Inspiration & Creation
Over the last month, the cold front over Los Angeles has intensified my Christmas
spirit and memories of my childhood winters in Great Britian. Even with the exciting heralding of 2016, a part of me wants to hold on to that holiday feeling just a bit longer.
My first cocktail creation of 2016 lends itself to a fantasy of being curled up by the fire off the quiet coasts of Ireland savoring warm flavors of the season. Unlike most scotch whiskey, which is distilled twice, Irish whiskey is distilled thrice forming a smoother finish compared to the earthy finish of scotch.
Tullamore Dew is the key ingredient in this rich concoction. I layer texture with Bailey’s Irish cream and just a
touch of Goldschlager, a classic Italian cinnamon liqueur. Bundaberg ginger beer adds the final strong finish.
The Irish Holliday is comforting to the soul and empowering in its ingredients, which are all symbolic of power and renewed strength. Celebrate the rain this week, turn on some Celtic tunes, sip on this creamy delight, and savor the remnants of the Christmas season.
